summer+desert=epic fails

yeah its hot, like all the time. My AC runs probably 90% of the day and at night, its like 91! How lucky!

I have been QQing (NOT "quick question") a lot lately about lack of real life interaction with people, isolation, loneliness. Its been a year now and look how many friends I've made in phoenix! I'm thinking of a number between 1 and -1. Phase One is in full effect to solve the situation, but I guess its going to take a minute. (small FYI: phase one is not to start lifting weights, shaving my chest, and getting really really excited when Buckcherry's "Crazy Bitch" comes on the radio. I'm sure you were all worried!)

I have found a wonderous new hobby, which is assembling small electronics projects and kits. I did my first one last weekend and it was an utter blast. I have my own little "work table" with tools and components and a fancy soldering iron. There is a whole culture of people who make these kits, and invent new kits to share with others, its really awesome. MAKE: Magazine is a great source, but I also like Adafruit.com , super well done.
I made something called the miniPOV which is a little thing that when you program a message in the microcontroller from your PC it makes an array of LED's blink SUPERFAST so that when you wave it all giddy, it displays a message. Here is a sample of the effect:

I took pictures of steps during the assembly process but my computer is having issues talking to my camera right now so I cannot share. Future projects will include MintyBoost: A USB charger ran on AA batteries that fits into a modded Altoids tin as well as a SIM Card Reader....for......investigations. I will be taking donations of any old SIM cards you may not want anymore to play around with.

I will leave you with LARPERS:
